Insights Of An Artist's Journeyby PLV Music Reader, → Have you ever wanted to make music afterwork but once the time come, you actually end up binge watching Netflix? → Or have you ever wanted to film a video to promote your new song but then found yourself scrolling instead? If those sound familiar, then you are probably self sabotaging your music career.Don't believe me? Let me explain. Over the last few days, I've been reading a book called 'The Mountain Is You' by Brianna Wiest (after my friend Zach Heyde recommended it). The book is all about breaking free from self-sabotage.Self-sabotage is the unconscious behaviours or thoughts that hold us back from our innermost needs. Actions like procrastination, negative self-talk and avoiding opportunities are often rooted in fears and insecurities, which are all signs of self-sabotage. Here are some examples of self sabotage behaviours:
It might sound counterintuitive but it's the truth. Our brains are wired to keep us safe. So when we try to grow or achieve our goals by doing things that step out of that comfort zone, the brain freaks out and does everything it can to keep us safe. It is a way for our brain to protect us from uncomfortable situations or feelings. Reading this book so far has been quite enlightening to understand my own behaviour and identify where I might be self sabotaging and when I need to pay more attention. That being said, I am still at the beginning of the book so I don't have the solutions yet to break free from those behaviours. But once I do, I'll be sure to let you know in a future email. In the meantime, I'd heavily recommend you to pick up that book if you could relate with any of those previously listed behaviours. Just being aware of it will help you to get over those hurdles! While reading this email, were you able to identify scenarios where you might be self sabotaging your music career?Hit reply to let me know! --- Anything else I can help you with?At PLV Music, our primary mission is to help music artists take control of their income by monetizing their music skills and knowledge online using organic social media content.
