Welcome to Insights Of An Artist's Journey πΆ

Hey Reader, ππ»
Every Tuesday, I send you resources and bits of insights that I find useful to help you speed up your music production journey π
Let's jump in!
The mistake killing your music career β
Over the years, I've seen a lot of aspiring music producers and creators get an amazing start to their career but then...
Nothing!!
They disappeared and I never heard of them again.
Why is that?
Well, it is because of something we call "the dip".
See, whenever you start something, you see fast results at the very beginning.
Maybe you finished you first full song in just 2 weeks π
But then you start to plateau or not seeing much results even though you still put a lot of efforts into it.
Let's say this time, you struggle to finish your second song, or things aren't as fast as you'd hope.
This is when you're experiencing "the dip".
A period when something that was once rewarding and exciting becomes difficult and frustrating.
The dip is just a temporary setback that can be overcome with persistence.
But unfortunately, this is when most people decide to give up.
They give up when it gets tough - usually right before a breakthrough!!!
The dip also shows itself in a different way.
You know the saying "What got you here won't get you there"?
Sometimes, we need to start doing things a different way if we want them to change.
Maybe it is taking an online course, maybe it is to hire a mentor or to change DAW.
But because we are afraid of the early stage investment (time or money), we keep doing nothing.
We hold on because we are afraid of the dip but this is what we need to achieve our goals and the lifestyle we want.
Here are a few examples:
- Doing less music for a while so that we can improve passive income sources
- Not putting in place a content creation system so itβs then faster to do so
- Not learning AI
- etc
If we look back at my own journey, every time I finally let go, it worked wonders for my music business:
- Hiring a video editor took me ages, I fought it for the longest time but once I did, I was able to spend more of my time on high leverage tasks that only I could do like business strategies, email marketing funnels, content strategy, music making etc...
- Focusing on YT instead of IG for better ROI and quality audience.
So here's a question for you:
What have you been holding onto that you know you need to let go to get to the next level?
Don't hesitate to hit reply if you need help brainstorming π€
